printer-friendly version

Anyone living close to Madison, Wisconsin ought to consider spending January 17, 2004 at the Southern Wisconsin Chapter of Trout Unlimited's "Ice Breaker" event. It's held at the Park Ponderosa Ballroom, 5100 Erling Avenue, McFarland, WI (a scant 8.2 miles from Madison, WI). The hours are from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

"We've got some great guests in Bob Krumm and Nikki Sieger," President Bill Pielsticker announced. "Bob will discuss small creek tactics-a perfect fit for our spring creeks. One of Nikki's presentations will take us beyond trout, with how and where to enjoy the diversity of Midwestern fly fishing."

There will be numerous door prizes and raffles for quality rods and reels. This is a casual event, with plenty of "trout talk" to satisfy anyone waiting for the season to arrive.

Here's some background on the guest speakers:

Nikki Seger is the Fishing Tackle Department Manager at Orvis, downtown Chicago, where she has been employed since 1998. Although Nikki grew up fly-fishing for trout in the Black Hills of South Dakota, she has more recently been pursuing the diverse fishery found within the Chicago and Great Lakes region. She has landed everything from panfish to carp to bass to steelhead to salmon on the fly rod.

Bob Krumm has been writing for the Billings Gazette (MT) since 1981 and has been guiding on the Bighorn River since 1985. Previously he guided on the western Wyoming rivers. Bob has fished many superb places including Michigan, Maine, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Argentina, Bahamas, and New Zealand. He is a superb fly tier (has tied commercially) and lectures on a wide variety of outdoor subjects with slide presentations.
